25km Race Route Description
The race starts from the Prophet Elias park in Elati (910m). The route passes through the center of Elati and follows the asphalt road towards Vrontero with a slight downhill slope, reaching Kariola (815m) at 2km. From Kariola, it turns right onto an uphill forest path, reaching the settlement of Vlacha (1100m) at the 4th km. In the past, this was one of the main paths of communication between the residents of Vlacha and Elati. Vlacha is also the location of the first aid station. After the station, the route follows a small section of the asphalt road to the right and ascends the left path leading to the summit of Koukos (1450m, antennas). The path continues along the wooded and beautiful ridge, with minimal downhill slope and flat sections, reaching the top of the ski center. Following the ski run, we reach the base of the ski center (1170m) at the 10th km where the 2nd aid station is located. Crossing the Pertouli meadows vertically, the route ascends the classic access path to the Koziakas shelter. In this section, it passes the Arvanites staircase and the Bakolas staircase, reaching the Koziakas shelter at 1740m at the 14th km (3rd aid station). After the shelter, it ascends the alpine meadows at Orniofolies and descends in a large Z pattern through the Kidonia pass to Tripio Lithari (1650m, the characteristic through rock with a view of the Thessalian plain). The route crosses the Chounes (alpine valleys) with green meadows, with several uphill and downhill sections until the location of Elatakos at the 14th km at an elevation of 1630m (4th aid station). Following the rugged dirt road, it descends to the Kanalia location, one of Koziakas' grazing areas where there is also a spring. The downhill path leads to the 5th and last aid station at Papadia (1440m) at the 21st km. Following a small section of forest road to the Kosta location, it enters the last section of the path, passing through Tsouknidoula and Pano Livadia, leading to the finish in Elati.
Περιγραφή διαδρομής αγώνα 9km
The race starts from the Prophet Elias park in Elati (910m). The route passes through the center of Elati and ascends for 300 meters, then turns left onto the path towards Agia Triada (1025m). The path follows the water pipeline and passes by two aqueducts, ending at the Agia Triada chapel where there is a spring. A small section of the path leads to the dirt road, which is followed right and downhill, reaching the intersection (Gouva Kato) at the 1st aid station (3rd km). From here, it follows the uphill dirt road for 500 meters to Gouva. This is where the most demanding part of the route begins, passing through the characteristic Thira passage and reaching the back of the first Koziakas ridge. Thira was the shortest of the two passages to Koziakas' grazing areas from where the shepherds would bring down the milk. The view from the Thira passage will refresh us and give us strength to complete the race. Above Thira, at the 5th km, we meet the Papadia location (1440m), where the 2nd and last aid station of the route is located. From here, the route is continuously downhill. Following a small section of forest road to the Kosta location, it enters the last section of the path, passing through Tsouknidoula and Pano Livadia, leading to the finish in Elati.
